Start of School Info

Welcome back! Hope everyone had a great summer. Here are a few announcements for start of school…

Orchestra Course Fees for 2014-15 are now due. Log in at www.charmsmusic.com with school code =hebronstrings and your student ID to pay online. ALSO you may pay in person with cash or check on SATURDAY AUGUST 30th at the NEW STUDENT Uniform Fitting. Make checks out to Hebron Orchestra Boosters. Place payment into payment envelope.

DINING OUT FUNDRAISER continues on Thursday August 28 at Panda Express. Location: Hebron Pkwy and Josey Lane. Tell the cashier you are with the Hebron Orchestra Fundraiser and Panda Express will donate 20% to our group. An easy way to raise money for this year’s activities!

ORCHESTRA PARENT MEETING will be held on Tuesday Sept 2 at 7:00 pm in the Hebron Orchestra room. We will cover grading policies, and orchestra procedures. Bring your own technology (or borrow your child’s ipad/log in). Afterwards we will break into groups for FALL SILENT AUCTION planning. Each orchestra parent will be assigned into a group, which will create a themed basket for October 9th Fall Concert. Baskets will be auctioned from $20 to $200, so come with your great ideas! BUSINESSES may sponsor a basket. The Hebron Orchestra boosters are a non-profit organization and donations may be tax deductible.

 

Spring Concert features freshman students

Hebron Orchestra Spring Concert will take place on May 22, at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium. Featured performers will be the ninth grade violin ensemble. The students have been preparing the Bach Double Concerto in D minor since February, during ongoing practice sessions after school.

Graduating Seniors will be recognized at the end of the concert, and a reception will follow in the auditorium foyer.

I know how busy we all are, but I have also seen the benefits of an active, high-quality orchestra program. We are able to provide student uniforms, trips, activities and perks because of parent volunteers. To get involved, attend the booster officer elections and sign up for committees at our April 22 Booster meeting, at 7:30pm. Note: Officer positions are for one school year, elected in April.

THE BIG D CLASSIC

Fresh from our UIL SWEEPSTAKES VICTORY, the Hebron Orchestras will attend the BIG D CLASSIC competition at the Meyerson Symphony Center on Saturday March 29.  Optionally, students who wish to participate afterwards will attend a Scavenger Hunt in downtown Dallas with Watson Adventures, followed by a retreat at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine Texas.Image

OUR BIG DEBUT

violinacademy february2014

On Tuesday February 4, 2014 the students in the Hebron Violin Academy had their debut performance at the Hebron Orchestra Mid-Winter Concert. The violin class is a new pilot program sponsored by the Hebron High School Orchestra for 4th grade students in the Hebron cluster. Class meets once a week on Monday nights. Parents attend weekly and are involved in the students’ musical development. The inaugural violin class consisted of 8 students representing Coyote Ridge, Castle Hills, Homestead, Indian Creek, Hebron Valley, and Independence Elementary schools.
