Homecoming Parade – September 21

Dear Hawks,

We’re excited to celebrate the festivities of Homecoming Week next week.  The annual homecoming parade is on Wednesday, September 21.  The orchestra will be walking in the parade.  Please help us have a great parade by observing the following guidelines:

  • Meet in the student parking lot at 5:30pm
  • Students may leave bags in the orchestra room before meeting
  • Bring a bag of candy (no chocolate) to toss to the parade goers
  • Bring water, and a hat for shade.
  • Parade uniform is:
    • This year’s orchestra t-shirt (to be distributed before the parade)
    • School appropriate shorts or pants
    • Walking shoes

Students are dismissed following the completion of the parade route (parade goes around the Hebron campus and returns to the parking lot)

Students may continue to the pep rally at Hawk Stadium or leave campus.

This is a required event for orchestra members.  If they are involved with two or more parade groups, they may choose which group to go in the parade with, and please notify both group sponsors.  If you wish to request a schedule or health exception to the parade for your student, please let us know as soon as possible.

Forms & Fees

Thanks for sending in the Code of Conduct and Media Acknowledgement forms.  We have completed 100% turn-in on these forms!  We are at 58% turn-in for the Fee form and Handbook form.  Please do not wait to send in these forms with the fee.  If you wish to submit the orchestra fee in payments or at a later time, this is fine, but please indicate this on the form and still turn in these forms as soon as possible.

The cellos/basses have one more form to turn in – the District Instrument Form.  Please do not send a separate payment for this form.  It has been included in the booster club fee.  The district uses the instrument fee to provide necessary annual maintenance for school owned instruments.  The district instrument form acknowledges that the student is responsible for any damage.  We are continuing to work on handling the instruments safely in class.

All-Region

The All-Region registration form has been posted to the classes.  Registration deadline is September 30.  Full audition information is in the audition packet.  All-Region sectionals are optional – Fridays after school until 5:00pm.  Good luck to all of our All-Region candidates!

Shoutouts

We are so thrilled to announce that orchestra seniors Emily Kwak and Danyal Saeed have been recognized as National Merit Semifinalists!  Congratulations!  These seniors continue Hebron Orchestra’s legacy as a student learning community.

Orchestra sophomore Hannah Mathew has written an article about Mrs. Chang for the Hebron Hawkeye.  It’s been so wonderful having Mrs. Chang as part of the orchestra team.  Thanks Hannah!
