4th Grade Violins

Just for 4th Graders… learn to play the violin!

Beginner violin class will teach you all of the basics.  Monthly fee is $75  for small group lessons. $50 registration fee includes child’s t-shirt and Smartmusic practice app for iPad and PC/Mac. Classes meet on Monday nights at Hebron High School.

Students will learn the following:

  • Parts of the violin
  • Caring for the violin
  • Body position
  • Holding the bow
  • Fingerboard chart
  • Names of notes
  • Violin Staff
  • Violin glossary
  • Measures, repeats
  • Rhythm
  • Read, write, say and play
  • American fiddle tunes
  • Classical composers
  • AND MUCH MORE!

Instruction will begin on Monday September 23rd.  Parents will need to provide 1/2 size or 3/4 size violin. Get ready for back-to-school with the Hebron Orchestra! We’ll be tuning up and suiting up for our best year yet. Click on the Calendar for a full listing of concert details and events for 2013-2014.

Friday Aug 23 Uniform Fitting, Chamber rehearsal, see calendar for schedule

Monday Aug 26 First Day of School. Chamber Orchestra bring instruments and a plastic cup.

Concert & Symphonic, no instruments. Bring a plastic cup.

Orchestra Banquet at the DWA

Spring Awards Banquet will be held on Friday May 24 at

the Dallas World Aquarium.

Purchase tickets by Friday May 17th by 3:30pm.

Attire is semi-formal.

Students riding the bus to DWA should meet at 6:00pm at Hebron HS.

Bus departs at 6:15pm.

We will tour the rainforest at 7:00pm.  After our guided tour, we will proceed to the banquet room downstairs for dinner and awards.

  • Monday April 29 6:00 pm-7:00 pm Group 1
  • Tuesday April 30 6:00pm-7:00pm Group 2
  • Wednesday May 1 6:00pm-7:00pm Group 3
  • Wednesday May 1 7:15pm-8:15pm      Group 4

Students will play through the music as a group and receive additional help from Mrs. Oyedipe. Then students will perform individually.

Orchestra takes top honors in Washington DC

Congratulations to the trip orchestra! They received a Superior Rating and Best Overall High School Orchestra at the Festivals of Music Washington DC contest. The performance was held at the campus of Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria, Virginia.
